We need volunteers for all aspects of making Animal Rescue of Carroll work! It is through the dedication of our volunteers that we have grown to where we are today. With more hands and hearts, we can save more lives. We need you!
Volunteers do not need to be in Carroll County, IA. We have volunteers from many cities. We need volunteers in/around the Des Moines area to help with adoption events and to play with our kitties at our adoption center. Foster homes can be from anywhere if willing to travel when events, adoptions, or vet work is needed.
Volunteer Opportunities: cat chores (cleaning living areas, boxes, feeding and watering), dog chores (cleaning kennels, exercising, feeding and watering) cat socialization (spending time getting more timid cats to settle in), take pictures of cats/kittens for website, facility maintenance/upkeep, mowing, transporting pets to veterinarians, help with fundraising events. The amount of time you are able to volunteer is up to you. You can come weekly, monthly, bi-monthly whatever fits into your schedule.
Community Service Opportunities: Community service is a 2-way street, we enjoy giving people the opportunity to do community service hours. Not only does it provide much-needed assistance to those in need, but it also brings a sense of fulfillment and purpose to the volunteers. You get to be part of something bigger than yourself and make a tangible, positive impact in the lives of animals. Everyone will need to fill out and sign the volunteer agreement and anyone under the age 16 will need to have a guardian present the entire time. Please call to set up a time and go over the expectations while you’re here.
We have had a policy change in regards to what age volunteers can start coming out by themselves with us. The age for volunteers for cats is now 16. This means if a child is under 16, the only way they can come volunteer is if a parent has gone through the training and comes with the child. The age for volunteers for dogs is now 17. This means if a child is under 17, the only way they can come volunteer is if a parent has gone through the training and comes with the child. Anyone under the age 18 will need to have parent attend training to make sure they are comfortable and aware before signing the waiver agreement.
Fostering gives pets a safe, loving home while they wait for adoption. Consider your household’s readiness, allergies, and how your pets will adjust. Be prepared to provide care, training, and say goodbye when they find their forever home. Ready to help?
