Is your Pet Lost?

Losing a pet can be a heartbreaking experience, but quick action can improve the chances of being reunited. Start by checking your neighborhood, calling out their name, and asking neighbors if they’ve seen your pet. Post on local lost pet groups and social media pages, and contact nearby shelters and veterinary offices. Be sure to provide a recent photo and any identifying details like a collar, tags, or microchip number. The sooner you begin searching, the better the chances of bringing your beloved pet home.

Microchipping your Pet

Microchipping is a simple, permanent way to ensure your pet can be identified if lost. About the size of a grain of rice, the chip is implanted under the skin and contains a unique ID linked to your contact details. Unlike collars or tags, it can’t be lost or removed. Many shelters and vets scan for microchips, making it a reliable way to reunite lost pets with their owners.

If your pet isn’t microchipped, consider getting it done—it’s a quick, painless procedure that can make all the difference. We offer this service for $20 per animal.

Found a Pet?

If you find a lost pet, check for a collar or tags with contact information. If there is no ID, take the pet to a local vet or shelter to scan for a microchip.  Posting clear photos and details on Lost and Found Pets in Carroll Facebook page can also help locate the owner.  While searching, provide temporary care with food and water if it is safe to do so.

Never assume a pet has been abandoned, as lost animals may appear unkempt or scared. Always verify ownership before handing the pet over and act quickly to increase the chances of a successful reunion. If unsure of what to do, reach out to the local resources below.
