 Surrendering Your Pet For Adoption
 
There are two options for pet owners wishing to surrender your pet for adoption:
Option 1: No Cost to Owners
  • The pet owner completes the Owner Surrender Form
  • The pet owner continues to house and care for the animal in their home
  • ARC places the animal on the website and brings animal to events
  • ARC completes any vet work required for the animal to be adopted at the cost of ARC
  • The pet owner may be a part of the rehoming process if they wish including talking to interested adopters, coming to events, meeting the adoptive family
  • If the pet owners wishes to keep the animal, after the vet work is completed by ARC, the pet owner can reimburse ARC the cost of the vet work
  • The pet owner may be asked to help provide transportation to events, vet work, etc
  • The pet owner can not give the animal away once Owner Release Forms are signed
 
 
 
Option 2: Surrendering Directly to ARC- Fee Associated
 
If the owner wishes to surrender an animal directly into ARC's care, a surrendering fee is required
 
(Please note: this option is only available when there is a foster home or space available)
 
  • Mandatory Fees For Surrendering:
    • Adult Animals (6 months and older)- $20/animal surrendered
    • Litter of Animals(under age of 6 months)- $5/animal surrendered
 
  • The animal(s) will be evaluated and are eligible to be immediately placed up for adoption
  • The owner may also send any pet supplies w/ the pet including food, bowls, crate, toys, etc along w/ the surrendering fee to help the animal adjust to it's new surroundings.

Surrendering A Stray
 
**Please note: Animal Rescue of Carroll does not hold an Animal Control Contract w/ the city of Carroll or Carroll County. 
 
Stray animals should be reported to:
 
Found in City of Carroll:
Carroll Police Department: 712-792-3536
 
Found outside of the City of Carroll but in Carroll County:
Carroll Sheriff's Department: 712-792-4393
 
**Any animals found outside of Carroll County, please contact your local shelter or police department
 
**ARC is not obligated to hold an animal that is sick or injured beyond treatable capacity for ARC.  The animal will be humanely and painlessly euthanized by licensed veterinary staff.  This is up to the sole discretion of ARC representatives
 
Option 1: No Cost to Person Surrendering
  • The person completes the Stray Surrender Form
  • The person continues to house and care for the animal in their home
  • The animal is advertised as found for 7 consecutive days
  • If the animal is not claimed, it will be evaluated for the adoption program
  • ARC places the animal on the website and brings animal to events
  • ARC completes any vet work required for the animal to be adopted at the cost of ARC
  • The person surrendering may be a part of the rehoming process if they wish including talking to interested adopters, coming to events, meeting the adoptive family
  • If the person surrendering  wishes to keep the animal, after the vet work is completed by ARC, the pet owner can reimburse ARC the cost of the vet work
  • The person surrendering  may be asked to help provide transportation to events, vet work, etc
  • The person surrendering can not give the animal away once Owner Release Forms are signed
 
 
Option 2: Surrendering Directly to ARC- Fee Associated
 
**This option is only available when there is space available for the animal to be safely quarantined for the holding period.
 
If the person wishes to surrender an animal directly into ARC's care, a surrendering fee is required (Please note: this option is only available when there is a foster home or space available)
 
If the person does not wish to pay the surrendering fee, they will be advised to contact their local Animal Control Agency.
  • Mandatory Fees For Surrendering:
    • Adult Animals (6 months and older)- $20/animal surrendered
    • Litter of Animals(under age of 6 months)- $5/animal surrendered
  • The animal is advertised as found for 7 consecutive days
  • If the animal is not claimed, it will be evaluated for the adoption program
